A NEAPOLITAN EASTER FOR EVERYONE
4 days/3 nights
Easter in Naples is marked by various religious events, starting on Palm Sunday, with the distributing of olive branches blessed by the church; continuing with the costumed processions of Good Friday; ending with the “dissolution of the glory” of Easter Sunday, with the morning church bells announcing the occasion of the Resurrection.
Hand in hand with these events, Neapolitan culinary tradition accompanies Eastertime with a number of veritable gastronomic rites: on the Thursday before Easter zuppa di cozze (mussel soup) is eaten in lieu of meat, while, in the alleyways of the city, the sweet scent of warm milk and pastry is already floating on the breeze, a prelude to the famous Pastiera, a typical Neapolitan cake. With the onset of Spring and the rays of sun embracing the streets, houses and historic buildings, Naples represents the perfect place for an Easter Break.
